Sir.
In reply to your Despatch No. 11 of the 9th. January, I have the bonour to inform you that further investi- -gation into the indebtedness of certain members of the staff of the Kowloon-Canton Railway brought to light the fact that Cheng Sau, the Station-master at Kowloon, and Wong Kum Shang, the traffic clerk, besides being heavily in debt through an extravagant mode of living, were also attempting to extort money from certain fruit contractors. These two men were on the temporary staff, and as the explanations of their conduct were unsatisfactory, I caused them to be dismissed.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient, humble servant,
B
Governor,&c..
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
